Advertisement Analysis
In this day and age, advertisements can be seen everywhere; they are found in physical forms such as flyers, posters, on the radio, television, newspapers, and magazines. They are even visible online, through social media and search engine advertisements. With so much noise, it is important to differentiate and be able to analyze advertisements so that viewers can make informed buying decisions. This paper will analyze two different advertisements; one for Walmart, a major retail outlet and one for the popular “Ride The Wave” surfing competition.
Walmart Advertisement
Walmart is a major retail outlet in the United States. Their ad is designed to reach a wide array of consumers, from individuals to families, across different demographic categories. The ad features bright colors to draw attention from potential customers. The font used is easy to read, which allows for a quick scan of the advertisement in a short amount of time.
The main message of the advertisement is to promote the different items that are available online and in-store. The copy of the ad provides a brief introduction to what Walmart offers, followed by select items that are currently available. This clearly sets out to advertise the wide selection of products they have, something that Walmart is known for.
The visual aspect of the advertisement is appealing and captures the attention of viewers. It features a variety of products from different categories such as grocery and household items, clothing, electronics, toys, and more. There is an emphasis on the company logo and branding, which creates familiarity for potential customers. The text emphasizes the convenience of shopping at Walmart – being able to buy items both online or in-store.
Ride The Wave Advertisement
The “Ride The Wave” surfing competition advertisement is designed to reach a completely different audience than that of the Walmart ad. This ad is targeted towards water sports enthusiast and professional surfers. The colors used in the ad are bright and vivid and set the tone of excitement and energy. The font used is modern looking, which adds to the overall aesthetic of the ad.
The message of the ad is to promote the 2017 Ride The Wave surfing competition. It provides a list of the events that will take place during the competition and gives an overview of the location and dates. In order to draw attention, the ad also briefly introduces some of the more popular and experienced competitors that will take part in the event.
The visual aspect of the advertisement is highly appealing. It features a photograph of a visible wave rolling in the background. This brings to attention the sport of surfing and sets the tone for what the ad is about. At the center of the page is a montage of images showcasing the different athletes that will be taking part in the competition.
In conclusion, both the Walmart and Ride The Wave advertisements effectively showcase the message and products/events they are promoting. They are visually appealing, capture attention, and provide the viewer with enough information to be informed and potentially make a purchase. Through comparison, it is clear how each ad is specifically designed to reach its intended audience.
