X20Cr13Ni8Mo2Al(PH13-8Mo) is a ferritic stainless steel alloy with a low carbon content and a very high chromium content, and is known for its excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation. In addition, the alloy is resistant to high temperature oxidation and displays good mechanical properties. This stainless steel has excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and pitting, and displays superior machinability when compared to other stainless steels.
X20Cr13Ni8Mo2Al(PH13-8Mo) is used in many industrial applications such as for the manufacture of marine equipment, industrial refrigeration, foodservice equipment, chemical processing, and architectural components.
The typical chemical composition of the alloy is: 22.3%-27.0% chromium, 8.0%-13.0% nickel, 2.2%-2.8% molybdenum and 0.9%-1.5% aluminum. The alloy also contains a small amount of manganese and sulfur. The carbon content of the alloy is very low, typically less than 0.03%.
The alloy has a wide range of mechanical properties. It displays excellent strength and toughness at temperatures up to 900°C, and excellent creep resistance at temperatures up to 1300°C. The yield strength is typically between 410-590MPa, the tensile strength is between 510-775MPa and the ductility is typically between 15-25%. The alloy is also resistant to hydrogen embrittlement and displays excellent formability.
X20Cr13Ni8Mo2Al has superior resistance to corrosion and oxidation, even in highly aggressive environments. The addition of molybdenum and aluminum to the alloy greatly increases its resistance to these forms of corrosion. The alloy displays excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking and pitting, making it an ideal material for use in marine environments. Additionally, the alloy is resistant to high temperature oxidation up to 1300°C.
X20Cr13Ni8Mo2Al is also highly machinable and displays excellent finish quality. The alloy can be machined using conventional machining techniques and is not prone to work-hardening.
