00Cr19Ni13Mo3 (UNS S31703) austenitic stainless steel is a high alloy stainless steel that contains 19% chromium, 13% nickel, and 3% molybdenum. It has excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of chemicals, including acids and alkalis as well as sea water and other harsh environments. The austenitic stainless steels high chromium and molybdenum content give the alloy excellent corrosion resistance properties. The chromium content provides excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of environments, including aqueous media, steam and dry air. The nickel content contributes to its good corrosion resistance in media such as alkalis and chlorinated copper sulfates. The molybdenum content gives the alloy very high corrosion resistance in chloride-containing environments and makes it especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion.
00Cr19Ni13Mo3 (UNS S31703) has excellent resistance to oxidation and carburizing, making it an ideal material for applications that are exposed to high temperatures or where a high-temperature vacuum is necessary. It is especially resistant to sulfuric acid, nitrogen containing acids and acetic acid. It also resists stress corrosion cracking and has excellent creep strength. The alloy exhibits good formability and ductility and can be easily welded and formed into parts. Additionally, it is non-magnetic and has very low permeability.
