Application of 0Cr15Ni7Mo2Al(PH15-7Mo)
0Cr15Ni7Mo2Al (PH15-7Mo) is a precipitation-hardened stainless steel designed for use in applications with high dynamic loads and elevated temperatures. It has excellent corrosion and fatigue resistance, as well as good mechanical properties. Due to its wide range of applications, this stainless steel is commonly known as “the workhorse of stainless steel alloys.”
Firstly, 0Cr15Ni7Mo2Al (PH15-7Mo) provides outstanding corrosion resistance. The 18% chromium and 7% nickel in this steel alloy impart strong general corrosion resistance. It is not normally subject to pitting or crevice corrosion. Additionally, 0Cr15Ni7Mo2Al (PH15-7Mo) is highly resistant to both oxidizing and reducing acids, and has good resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Secondly, this stainless steel is highly resistant to fatigue with excellent toughness, making it suitable for use in applications involving elevated temperatures or rapidly changing dynamic loads. Its tensile strength is 830 MPa, with a yield strength of 500 MPa and its toughness is significantly greater than that of annealed austenitic stainless steels, making this alloy well suited for use in many applications.
Finally, 0Cr15Ni7Mo2Al (PH15-7Mo) has excellent formability and weldability, allowing it to be easily formed into different shapes while still maintaining its superior corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. It is easily welded using standard welding processes, including gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and tungsten inert gas welding (TIG).
0Cr15Ni7Mo2Al (PH15-7Mo) is a superior stainless steel alloy, offering an ideal combination of strength, corrosion resistance, and formability for a vast array of applications. Its high corrosion resistance makes it suitable for use in marine, chemical processing, and food processing environments; its fatigue resistance is ideal for use in aircraft, power and electrical equipment; and its formability and weldability make it suitable for use in metal fabrication. This “workhorse” stainless steel is also gaining popularity for use in medical devices, as well as for applications in the automotive and construction industries.
