Dongchuan Mining Bureau
Established in 1959, the Dongchuan Mining Bureau is located in the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan province, China. It is responsible for the development, exploration and exploitation of non-ferrous metal resources, as well as for the survey of precious metal, rare earth and coal resources.
The mining bureau has 20 subordinate mining engineering departments, nearly 2,500 employees, seven mining-related production companies, two wholly-funded tourism companies, a research and design institute, and a technical school.
The bureau manages a total of 16 mining products, of which 13 are under geological exploration and development, one has been explored and developed, and one has been included in the states reserve. It also manages two coal mines.
The bureau has an area of over 50 square kilometers, with a total of 840,000 tons of ore reserves. It has ten mining areas, of which eight are under development, and a total of 80 mining sites, of which 66 are under operation.
The area provides abundant resources for the mining bureau, and the annual output of tungsten, tin, antimony, molybdenum and cobalt reaches 10000 tons. Its ore output is of medium grade, less than 2%, and its recovery rate of gold is more than 5 grams per ton.
The mine also produces 6.5 million tons of overburden each year, and develops several large-scale mines with annual output of more than one million tons.
The bureau has established a modern operation and management system and institutions, with strict control over pollution, waste and its underground water environment. In recent years, the bureau has vigorously implemented technical transformation in the mine, established a modern enterprise management system, and adopted a series of measures to improve the safety of the mine so that it reaches the national standard.
At the same time, the bureau actively explores overseas markets, looks for international cooperation opportunities, attracts investment, and develops its tourism industry. It has established international exchanges and cooperation with a number of countries in Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.
As a major raw material supplier of non-ferrous metal ore and coal, Dongchuan Mining Bureau is committed to further improving the operation, management and technical level of the mine, striving to achieve long-term and sustainable development.
