Surface Processing of Cold Rolled Stainless Steel Sheet
Stainless steel sheet cold rolling process is one of the most common processes used in the production of stainless steel sheet, also known as cold rolling or cold bending. The technology is essentially a series of small deformations imposed on the formed sheet by small rolls, under the condition of limited range of strain. During this process, stainless steel sheet is exposed to compression, bending, and sometimes a combination of the two. The purpose of the process is to reduce the thickness of the sheet, destroy the surface crystal lattice structure, get flat and even stainless steel sheet with a certain mechanical properties.
Surface of cold rolled stainless steel sheet includes 6K technology and HL technology. 6K is a popular surface processing technology of cold rolled stainless steel sheet in China and is also known as the hovering process. Under the two-stage rolling process, the surface of the rolled stainless steel sheet is covered with a layer of oxide film which is not easy to break and easy to form a stable oxide film. This oxide film is bright and clean, and the multi-angle view shows a clear and bright reflective surface. However, the grade of steel and surface processing technology will also determine its decorative performance.
At present, 6K processing technology has been widely used in the production of stainless steel sheet, but its production process requires a very high surface finish, not suitable for all grades of steel. For those with strict requirements on decorative performance, generally requiring a higher level of surface finish, the HL technology is recommended.
The HL product has a beautiful surface polishing and is also known as the 8K processing technology. With the use of advanced physical polishing technology and chemical polishing technology, the surface of the stainless steel sheet is subjected to multiple polishing steps until its surface has a very high reflective effect, and its surface roughness can even reach 0.13um. Since the surface is finished by polishing and grinding, the product surface has a certain stiffness, the sheet tension is lower, and the performance is superior.
Surface processing of cold rolled stainless steel sheet requires professional knowledge and precision equipment, and the quality of the product will also be affected by the manufacturers level. To obtain a higher quality stainless steel sheet, it is recommended to make your choice of stainless steel sheet suppliers carefully.
