High temperature mechanical properties of martensitic chromium stainless steel 4Cr13

Martensitic chromium stainless steel 4Cr13, also known as 420 stainless steel, is a kind of general stainless steel with good corrosion resistance, good formability and strong air oxidation resistance. It is mainly used to make corrosion resistant and wear-resistant parts with strong resistance to oxidation, such as blades and surgical tools. The high temperature mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel are very important to its application. In this paper, the high temperature mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel were studied, and the influencing factors and their effects were investigated.

The high temperature mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel were studied by tensile testing. The experimental results showed that, under the test temperature of 500 ℃~650 ℃, the mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel changed greatly. For example, as the temperature increased from 500 ℃ to 650 ℃, the yield strength, tensile strength and elongation decreased significantly, while the toughness and hardness decreased slightly. This is mainly due to the fact that the plasticity of 4Cr13 stainless steel is reduced at high temperature, that is, the malleability decreases.

It is well known that the mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel are affected by many factors, such as chemical composition, austenite structure, quenching condition and test temperature. In this study, the influence of test temperature on the mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel was further studied. The results showed that when a certain amount of martensite was formed in 4Cr13 stainless steel and tested at high temperature, martensite would decompose and produce different forms of secondary structures. These secondary structures would reduce the strength of 4Cr13 stainless steel and change its plasticity. The higher the test temperature was, the more serious the decomposition of martensite and the greater its negative effect on the mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel. Therefore, the higher the test temperature, the worse the mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel.

In conclusion, 4Cr13 stainless steel has good corrosion resistance, good formability and strong air oxidation resistance. The high temperature mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel are affected by many factors, such as chemical composition, austenite structure, quenching condition and test temperature. The higher the test temperature is, the worse the mechanical properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel. It is necessary to consider these factors in the design and application of 4Cr13 stainless steel products.

4Cr13 chromium martensitic stainless steel is a cost-effective steel material with superior strength, toughness and corrosion resistance. It is a common material used in bearing, automotive and aerospace industries. This steel has good high temperature properties and its mechanical properties remain stable at temperatures up to 600°C.

Compared to ordinary austenitic stainless steel, 4Cr13 has superior properties such as high temperature strength, oxidation resistance, oxidation resistance and wear resistance at high temperatures. For this reason, it is an attractive material for many applications. In terms of mechanical properties, 4Cr13 has a tensile strength of 1100 MPa and a yield strength of 900 MPa. The elongation at break is about 18-25%. The thermal expansion of the material is about 11.5x10-6/K.

The fatigue strength of 4Cr13 at room temperature is relatively moderate and its fatigue strength decreases with increasing temperature. However, its fatigue strength at temperatures up to 500°C is still good. This steel is resistant to high temperature embrittlement and can maintain good mechanical properties in continuous high temperature operation.

The corrosion resistance of 4Cr13 steel is quite good, especially in salt water and seawater. In addition, it has excellent wear resistance, making it an ideal choice for bearings. Furthermore, 4Cr13 steel is easy to process, making it a preferred choice for many manufacturers.

In conclusion, 4Cr13 chromium martensitic stainless steel is a cost-effective steel material with superior properties. It has excellent high temperature strength and wear resistance, good corrosion resistance and relatively moderate fatigue strength. Furthermore, it is easy to process and is a preferred choice for many applications.
