Stainless Steel Wire Production Process Characteristics and Process
Stainless steel wire, chosen from the ground material of austenitic stainless steel, is an indispensable industrial material in the hydrogen energy economy. Its production process is more complicated and has high requirements.
The main production processes of stainless steel wire can be divided into three categories: cold drawing process, heat drawing process, and bright heat treatment process. Cold drawn stainless steel wires are generally made of cold-rolled or cold-rolled stainless steel sheets. After the cold-rolled coils are passed through the drawing machine several times, the process of re-drawing and annealing is completed to get the size and accuracy required by the product.
The heat drawing process is generally used to produce stainless steel wires with larger cross sectional area. The conditions for this process are relatively mature. The process begins with the normalizing of the hot rolled stainless steel strips. The normalizing temperature is generally 950-1050 ℃, and the corresponding holding time is 30-60 min according to the thickness of the steel strip. The normalizing process helps the wire to eliminate the internal stress generated in the hot rolling process, thus obtaining better mechanical properties. Then the normalizing steel strips enter the drawing machine for wire drawing. In the process of wire drawing, in order to further reduce the stress in the wire, the annealing process should be used after each drawing process.
The stainless steel wire with high straightness, good surface quality and high toughness can be obtained by the bright heat treatment process. This process begins with the annealing of hot-rolled stainless steel strips. The purpose of the heat treatment is to eliminate internal stress, greatly improve the straightness, and increase the gloss and toughness of the wire. After annealing, the stainless steel sheet is further processed into wire in a drawing machine, and the obtained wire has high hardness, toughness and good appearance.
The chemical composition, mechanical properties, and appearance of stainless steel wire are all determined by the production process. It can be seen from the above characteristics and processes of three kinds of stainless steel wire production processes that the chemical composition, mechanical properties and appearance of stainless steel wire are perfectly combined to meet the requirements of various applications. Therefore, the choose of stainless steel wire product depends on the select of production process.
The accuracy, brightness and hardness of stainless steel wires are very important in the production process. Therefore, the initial size of the stainless steel wire and its diameter tolerance, surface brightness and surface roughness must be strictly controlled. The chemical composition of the stainless steel wire must also be detected according to different requirements. At the same time, in the production process, mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, bending resistance, torsion resistance and other corresponding indicators must be checked strictly.
Finally, after passing through the various tests, a stainless steel wire with stable chemical composition and excellent mechanical properties will be obtained. The production process of stainless steel wire is more complicated and also very strict. The performance and quality of stainless steel wire must be ensured to meet the requirements of various engineering application.
