Labor Hygiene and Safety

Labor hygiene is a science which studies the environmental conditions for labor exploitation in order to investigate the effects of the environmental conditions on the performance and health of workers. This science studies the methods and ways of prevention from harm and illness of the workers related to the labor environment. It is mainly focused on the organization of labor and production, the ventilation and light, the elements of the labor environment and surroundings, the cleanliness of the labor environment and the physical factors, the heat and cold and the humidity, the noise and vibration, the working hours, the rest and vacation, the occupational health services, the labor protection and the security measures.

Labor hygiene includes the following definite components: safety, hygiene, ergonomics, occupational health and medical and legal standards. The importance of labor hygiene depends on the country, the sector of industry and the type of work performed. For example, in the medical and food industry, the standards of labor hygiene must be especially strict and high.

The need for labor hygiene arises not only as a preventive measure against health risk and disease, but also as a social factor, concerned with the protection of human rights.Labor Safety is a sub-discipline of occupational health and safety, which is concerned with the protection against injuries, health risks and infectious diseases in the workplace.

Labor safety is considered to be the most important factor in the work environment. It is the primary goal of all safety management systems to reduce the risk of occupational injuries or illness by improving the safety in all aspects of the job. It is the responsibility of the employers to provide a safe and secure environment for all employees.

The primary goal of labor safety is to reduce the likelihood of accidents and injuries in the workplace. This requires employers to follow a set of safety rules and guidelines that should be monitored and enforced on a regular basis. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) sets the standards for safety in the workplace and provides employers with guidelines to ensure that the safety of their employees is not compromised. Furthermore, OSHA enforces safety regulations and requirements in the workplace to protect the workers from potential injuries or illnesses.

Labor safety is not only important for the safety of the workers, but also for the profitability of the company. If employees are not safe, the company can lose money due to expenses related to worker compensation, lost time, and legal fees.

Moreover, labor safety is important for the health and well-being of an employee. If employees are exposed to unsafe working conditions, they could suffer from physical and psychological health problems.

In conclusion, labor hygiene and safety are important factors in the workplace and they should not be neglected. Employers should take all the necessary steps to ensure that their employees are safe and healthy while working. Safety and hygiene rules and regulations should be set and enforced to keep the workplace safe and secure.
