Benjamin Franklin is one of Americas most beloved Founding Fathers. He was an inventor, scientist, printer, statesman, politician, diplomat, andpostmaster. He was also a prolific writer and public speaker.

Franklin was born on January 17, 1706, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the tenth of 17 children born to his parents. Franklin dropped out of school at the age of 10 and was apprenticed to his brother James, a printer. Franklin found success in this apprenticeship and eventually opened his own printing business at the age of 23.

Franklin quickly became a successful printer, and in 1729 he founded the Pennsylvania Gazette, which helped establish him as one of Americas most successful printers. He then went on to become a noted author and publisher.

Franklin was also one of the leading minds behind the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. He was a key drafter of the Declaration of Independence, as well as a signer of the treaty that ended the American Revolutionary War.
