Ostra Lamvova was born in 1979 in Moscow, Russia. She was an intelligent and talented student during her high school years, and was accepted into the prestigious Moscow Institute of Technology (MIT). Ostra graduated with a degree in chemistry and shortly after went to work in a number of different research and development laboratories around the world.

Ostra made her mark in the scientific world through her research on genetic engineering and nanotechnology. She studied the impact of different gene editing techniques and developed methods for introducing novel materials into existing systems.
