AISI 4140 is an alloy structural steel with good hardenability, strength, plasticity, toughness and wear resistance. It is generally used for manufacturing parts for heavy-duty machinery, such as automobile shafts, gears, sprockets, forged parts and so on.
AISI 4340 is a hardenable chromium-nickel-molybdenum steel that combines good strength and toughness with moderate ease of heat treating. It is often used for military aircraft components, such as landing gear shafts, and for aircraft engine components.
AISI 4340V is a modification of AISI 4340 with vanadium added for improved hardenability. It is often used for parts that require high strength and toughness.
AISI 8620 is a low-alloy carburizing steel containing nickel, chromium and molybdenum. It is known for good strength and toughness, with good ductility and corrosion resistance. It is mainly used for parts such as shafts, splined gears, pinions, pumps and holders.
AISI 9310 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. It is known for its good combination of strength, toughness and wear resistance, making it ideal for aircraft gas turbine components, bearings, gears and so on.
