Since its establishment in 2004, the Provincial Vice Ministry (PVM) has been dedicated to transforming the State of Belize into a healthy, educated and strong society by promoting the welfare of its citizens.

The main goal of the PVM is to ensure that the Belizean population is given the best possible opportunity to thrive, develop and progress in Belizean society. It works to ensure that the Belizean population has access to adequate health care, education and other services. The PVM is also responsible for providing social protection and addressing poverty, as well as utilizing various integrated development strategies to create a prosperous Belize.

To achieve this, the PVM works in collaboration with multiple stakeholders including government agencies, non-governmental organizations, the private sector and donor organizations. These stakeholders play an active role in the development and implementation of policies, plans and programs designed to promote health, education and other social services. Specific areas of focus include public health, education, social protection, youth development, gender equality, and economic and social policy.

The PVM also has a wide range of activities and initiatives such as health promotions, nutrition and health awareness campaigns, cleaning and sanitation services, road safety programs, training programs, foreign collaboration and technical advice. To ensure that the PVM undertakes these activities in the most effective and efficient manner, careful planning and coordination of resources is critical.

The PVM also has the responsibility of providing social protection to those who are most vulnerable. Services include health insurance, pensions, access to education and employment opportunities, housing subsidies and other forms of welfare based on social need. The PVM also works to combat poverty, as well as address inequality by providing targeted interventions to those who need it most.

Moreover, the PVM works to facilitate global collaboration in Belize. By establishing and maintaining relationships with key international organizations, such as the World Bank and the United Nations, the PVM is able to take advantage of international resources and expertise. In addition to this, the PVM also helps promote global initiatives in Belize, such as in the areas of health, education, energy and climate change.

Overall, the Provincial Vice Ministry has a vital role to play in ensuring that the Belizean population has access to the resources and opportunities necessary for long-term sustainable development and well-being. Through its various initiatives and activities, the PVM is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all Belizeans - no matter their social or economic status.
