TURNING FAILURE INTO SUCCESS
Failure can be a hard pill to swallow – after all, no one wants to experience difficulty or disappointment. But as long as you’re resilient and determined, failure can actually serve as an amazing springboard for success.
For starters, failure can force you to see things in a fresh light. The next time you take on a task or endeavor, you’re not starting from square one, but rather from an enriched understanding of the gap between where you want to be and where you’ve been.
In fact, that same understanding is also essential when it comes to improving upon that first attempt. Always look ahead to what new skills, strategies and tactics you can try to help you move past a similar roadblock should it come up again.
Failure can also help up build emotional resilience. By experiencing and (hopefully) overcoming failure, we can have greater mental strength and greater self confidence.
Along the same vein, failure introduces us to self-compassion and humility. NO one likes to fail – but understanding that failure is inevitable, can help us develop the courage to accept what’s happened and move on.
Failure also helps keeps our eyes on the prize. ... It’s easy to get distracted when approaching a task – after all, if you’re not with the end goal in mid, it’s hard to stay focused. The possibility for failure can help us remember our objective and limit our distractions.
Overall, failure can actually be seen as a stepping stone towards success – as a way to develop skills, resilience and focus. However, it’s important to remember that failure isn’t necessarily a sign of weakness, but of strength – and that is a lesson that can pay off down the road.
