Maanshan Steel Design Institute (MASDI) was established in 1984, as part of Maanshan Iron and Steel Group. It is an advanced research and design organization that provides integrated design and engineering solutions for the steel industry in China and globally. MASDI is committed to continuously improve the service quality and optimize the cost efficiency for all its customers, through innovations and employing state-of-the-art engineering solutions for steel structures, process plants and equipment design.

The Institute has around 200 staff, mostly qualified engineers, of whom about 15.4% are in R&D departments, 15.8% are in engineering departments and 2.0% are in engineering management departments. Furthermore, there are 11 senior engineers, 14 engineers and engineers in different design divisions.

MASDI has developed a comprehensive range of independent research capabilities and engineering services to offer innovative solutions. On the R&D side the institute works on product and process optimization, new technology development, welding engineering, research and testing. The engineering divisions provide a comprehensive range of services, including structural design, lifting engineering, equipment and instrument design, process engineering services and technical advisory services.

MASDI has a multicultural team which brings together expertise from China and other countries. The team has a wide range of expertise, from engineering design to project management. The institute works closely with its customers to ensure that the projects are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards.
