GB/T 19236—2003 Compressed Natural Gas Dispensers and Nozzles

Scope of GB/T 19236—2003

This standard specifies the safety requirements, test methods and inspection rules for compressed natural gas dispensers and nozzles.

This standard applies to compressed natural gas (CNG) dispensers and nozzles. It does not apply to nozzles used exclusively for transferring natural gas from one storage vessel to another.

Definitions

In this standard, compressed natural gas (CNG) refers to the natural gas extracted from natural gas reservoirs, classified according to molecular composition of methane and other hydrocarbon components, stored and transported in high-pressure gas cylinders.

Requirements

Compressed natural gas dispensers and nozzles shall meet the requirements of this standard.

Design and fabrication

1. The design and fabrication of the compressed natural gas dispenser and nozzle shall comply with the relevant standards and regulations concerning pressure vessels and safety measures.

2. Gas supply inlets, outlets, and other components of the dispenser and nozzle shall be designed to enable them to be used safely, reliably and effectively.

3. Accessories or other components specially used in CNG systems such as gas supply hoses, pressure gauges and fuel nozzles shall be provided with necessary safety devices.

Safety devices

1. The dispenser shall have an emergency shut-off device which shall start operating if the pressure in the dispenser exceeds the specified maximum design pressure.

2. The dispenser shall have an emergency depressurizing device which shall start operating if the pressure in the dispenser falls below the specified minimum design pressure.

Testing

1. The pressure relief valve, emergency shut-off device, emergency depressurizing device and other safety devices shall be tested for their effectiveness in accordance with this standard.

2. The parts of the dispenser and nozzle shall be tested for their functionality, accuracy and performance in accordance with this standard.

Inspection

1. The dispenser and nozzle shall be inspected for their manufacturing quality and performance in accordance with this standard.

2. The body, motor, fuel pump and other components of the dispenser and nozzle shall be inspected for any corrosion or obstruction.

Conclusion

This standard specifies the safety requirements, test methods and inspection rules for compressed natural gas (CNG) dispensers and nozzles. This standard applies to CNG dispensers and nozzles. The safety devices, testing and inspection requirements specified in this standard shall be met in order to effectively protect the safety of personnel and equipment.
