Introduction

The bearing is a basic component which is widely used for mechanical transmission in modern industrial production and is widely used for the radial load, the axial load or the combined radial and axial load to improve the mechanical transmission efficiency and accuracy. In terms of bearing structure, various kinds of bearings have different structure forms, this article will be focused on analyzing the structure types of the ball bearing.

Types of Ball Bearing

1. Open Type Bearing: This type of bearing is equipped without any guard and the structure is very simple; usually it contains an inner ring, an outer ring, balls, seals and a cage which is used to align the ball. The open type bearing can be used in the application where no dirt and debris are expected, but it cannot be exposed directly with the water or other high humidity surroundings.

2. Sealed Type Bearing: As compared to the open type bearing, the sealed type bearing is equipped with extra guard which is used to prevent external contamination such as dirt, dust and water. Sealed type bearing is usually applied in the application where it needs to be exposed in the high humidity environment or with serious dusts.

3. Shielded Type Bearing: This type of bearing is similar to the sealed type bearing, which is also equipped with a guard to prevent the contamination from external particles; however the guard of shielded type bearing is more delicate and it is always made of non-contact shield which can reduce additional frictional torque. It is widely used in the application place where high accuracy is required.

4. Internal Clearance Bearing: Unlike the former three types of bearing, the internal clearance bearing is equipped with adjustable end gap, which is internally arranged and it can effectively control the relative movement between the inner and outer raceway of the bearing. Generally speaking, the radial clearance of this bearing can be changed by adjustment or heat treatment, which can meet to different needs of the application.

Advantages of Ball Bearing

The ball bearing is highly durable, efficient and self-aligning. It can release heat more efficiently than other types of bearings due to the increased surface and contact area between the balls and inner and outer rings. Additionally, they are relatively simple to maintain and they need minimal lubrication to work properly. Generally speaking, the ball bearing can perform better than other kind of bearings in terms of smooth movement, low noise and high performance, which is why it is widely used in various kinds of machinery and equipments.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the ball bearing is a very important component which can help to improve mechanical transmission efficiency and accuracy, and it is widely used in modern industrial production. There are four types of ball bearing depending on the structure, which can meet different needs from the application. In addition, ball bearing also have many advantages such as high durability, efficiency and low noise, which is why it is highly favored by most manufacturers.
