Heat Resistant Steel Castings Delivery Conditions

1. Introduction

This document (DIN 17465-1993) presents technical delivery conditions for heat resistant steel castings. It is applicable to castings in the categories of unalloyed and alloyed heat resistant precipitation hardening steel, martensitic and austenitic steels, heat and corrosion resistant copper-nickel alloys, nickel based alloys and titanium based alloys used for machining or welding.

2. Scope

This document is applicable to all heat resistant steel castings. It covers all the requirements for the delivery of such castings according to specification DIN 17465-1993. All technical data for the casting, material composition and mechanical properties are subject to the delivery conditions set out herein.

3. Technical Data

The technical data for heat resistant steel castings must be in accordance with the following:

a) The alloy designation is based on its chemical composition and tolerance limits are in line with EN 10204-2.2;

b) The mechanical properties of heat resistant steel castings should comply with the relevant standards;

c) The dimensions and tolerances specified should be those specified in ISO metric dimensions;

d) Specific mechanical properties such as tensile strength and yield strength shall be as specified in the relevant standards.

4. Heat Treatment

Castings shall be heat treated in accordance with good engineering practice and appropriate heat treatments should be specified. This shall include normalising, annealing, solution heat treatments and aging or hardening.

5. Inspection

Inspections for the acceptance of heat resistant steel castings shall be in accordance with the specified inspection standards (such as ASTM). The tests, inspections and certificates shall be specified in the order.

6. Clearing and Cleaning

Heat resistant steel castings shall be delivered clear and clean, free from sand, oxides, and other debris. Any cleaning procedures shall be agreed upon by both parties and be agreed upon before the order is executed.

7. Packaging and Markings

Heat resistant steel castings shall be delivered in accordance with good packaging practices and be clearly identified through markings on the casting and the packaging.

8. Quality Assurance

Heat resistant steel castings shall be produced and inspected in accordance with Quality Assurance Services (QAS) to ensure the required quality.

9. Certification

Heat resistant steel castings delivered shall be accompanied with the appropriate inspections and certification to verify that the castings meet the specified field requirements.

10. Revision

This document (DIN 17465-1993) is subject to reviews and revisions, if necessary and any changes shall be agreed between both parties prior to implementation.

Final Remark

This document (DIN 17465-1993) is to be used as a guide on how to verify the satisfactory delivery of heat resistant steel castings. All parties involved in the production of heat resistant steel castings should refer to this document before making any decisions.
