Introduction

No-water gun mud is a type of refractory material used in steel manufacturing. It is also called slag-gunning material, and it is widely used in furnace linings, refractory repair or corundum brick patchwork. Currently, this slag-gunning material is a basic raw material for producing high-temperature refractory materials and thermal insulation materials. Gun mud is prepared by mixing refractory materials, waterproof materials, binders and heavy materials, and it is applied in a highly liquid form by inert gas high pressure injector on the inner surface of high temperatures coatings. Its features are high strength, good adhesion to the base, high temperature volume stability and thermal insulation properties. Therefore, it is highly suitable for the application in high furnace.

Application of no-water gun mud in high furnace

1. Lining protection

No-water gun mud is commonly used in the steelmaking process. The inner wall of the high furnace often works in an extremely high heat and is prone to attack by slag, metal and metal-composite liquid; corroding and wearing the lining. In order to solve this problem, the traditional methods are to repair and layer the lining with the no-water gun mud, and increase the protective layer. No water gun mud has good adhesion, high temperature volume stability and thermal insulation properties, thus can protect the inner wall of the furnace from erosion.

2. Patch up

No-water gun mud can also be used to patch up and consolidate old refractory lining of high furnace, as it can form a layer of protective insulation layer between the new refractory and the old or damaged area. The high temperature volume stability and thermal insulation properties of no-water gun mud make it suitable for such patch up application.

3. Ptotection

No-water gun mud can also be used as a protective layer for the surface of steel castings. It helps to protect the surface of the casting from erosion and attack by slag, metal and metal-composite liquid.

In conclusion, no-water gun mud is widely used in high furnace application. It has good adhesion, high temperature volume stability and thermal insulation properties, thus can be used as a reliable protection in high temperature environment. Besides, its flexibility and easy-to-use feature makes it a widely used refractory material in steel manufacturing.
