Alloy K80MoCrV42-16 is a stainless steel alloy of the ferritic class. It is a low-carbon alloy containing Chrome, Nickel and Molybdenum. The alloy has excellent resistance to corrosion and is suitable for applications in highly corrosive environments. Its excellent mechanical properties, low coefficient of thermal expansion and high melting point makes it suitable for use in a wide range of applications including structural components, defense systems and nuclear power plants.

The alloy has a maximum carbon content of 0.08 wt.% with a minimum chromium content of 16 wt.%. This helps provide excellent corrosion resistance properties in highly corrosive environments, such as sea water and sediment layers. Such environments can easily corrode other alloys. The nickel content of the alloy is 8.0-11.0 wt.%, and the molybdenum content is 0.40-0.90 wt.%. The combination of these elements helps to improve the strength of the alloy.

The K80MoCrV42-16 is encompassed by the following international corrosion resistance standards, including ASTM A743 and A744, and GOST 8239-89, and is widely used in centrifugal pumps and pipes, valves and flanges. Due to its excellent corrosion resistance even in complex media containing acids, alkalis, and organic and inorganic compounds, it is also used in the chemical industry.

In terms of manufacturing and fabricating, the K80MoCrV42-16 alloy can be welded by a variety of fusion welding methods, such as gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding and shielded metal arc welding. The weldability of the alloy is relatively good, provided it is pre-heated and the post weld heat treatment is performed. It is important to note that the finished welded product should be heat treated for the best strength and corrosion resistance.

The K80MoCrV42-16 alloy is commonly used in the nuclear industry for components used in nuclear power plants, owing to its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance properties in highly corrosive environments. The nuclear industry requires alloys that have good corrosion resistance and withstand extreme environments. Due to its high melting point and low thermal expansion, the alloy is also used in structural components and forging applications.

Thus, the K80MoCrV42-16 stainless steel alloy is widely used in a range of industries and applications, spanning from chemical and nuclear to structural components, and due to its high strength and corrosion resistance properties, it is an ideal alloy for various applications. It has excellent properties that make it suitable for applications in corrosive environments, such as sea water and sediment layers, and it has good weldability and can be used in a wide range of forging applications.
