Magnesium and Magnesim Silicate Cast Hole Bricks - Allowable size deviation and shape
Mg-Si casting hole bricks are widely used in metallurgical, chemical, and ceramic industries because of their high thermal conductivity, good thermal shock resistance and excellent insulation performance. This type of brick has a wide range of applications, including furnaces, boiler half pipes, runways, crystallizers, and even baking ovens. The brick manufacturing process is complex, and the production process is strictly regulated. Any error in the production process may reduce the performance of the brick and bring undesirable results, making it important to adhere to certain quality control measures.
The size and shape of the cast hole bricks have a significant influence on the performance and life of the bricks. During the production process, defects in both the size of the bricks and their shapes may occur. To ensure the long-term performance of Mg-Si cast hole bricks, it is important to adhere to certain allowable size and shape tolerances.
In terms of the size deviation of Mg-Si cast hole bricks, the length and the width of the brick should generally be ± 0.5mm or ± 1.0%. The angle of the brick should adhere to the factory specification, with a tolerance ± 0.2°or ± 3‰. Any deviation larger than these values will not only reduce the efficiency of the brick, but also increase the chance of cracking and breakage, also reducing its thermal shock resistance.
In terms of the shape of Mg-Si cast hole bricks, the allowable surface roughness should be Ra≤0.3μm. During the installation of the hole bricks, a planeness error should not exceed 0.2mm and there should be no extraneous objects on the surface of the surface. The tolerance should not exceed the class B accuracy in JB/T 8034, which corresponds to 0.162mm. The surface treatment should adhere to the requirements of the relevant standards. The allowance for the chamfer should not be greater than 0.2mm and the corner radius should not be less than 2mm.
The quality control of Mg-Si cast hole bricks is critical for maintaining their performance and prolonging the life of the bricks. By adhering to the allowable deviations of size and shape, the quality of the cast hole bricks can be ensured, preventing any undesired results.
