Yunnan Hui Min Iron Mine
Yunnan Hui Min Iron mine is located in north western part of the Piedmont sedimentary-collisional zone and is one of the five major iron ore deposits in western Yunnan. Geographically, the mine is located between north 25°42’ - 25°41’ and east 102°12’- 102°14’ in Yunnan Province, China.
Yunnan Hui Min Iron Mine is the largest iron ore deposit discovered in western Yunnan and is the main mineral resource of iron ore in this region. It has a proven geological reserve of more than 1.2 billion tons of iron ore, with an average grade of 35%. The most important part of this ore body belongs to lean ores which are within the depth of 200 meters and distribute in an area of 310 hectares.
The deposit has great economic value since it is one of the important iron ore bases in southwestern China. The deposit contains valuable iron which has a high content of magnetite, and iron ore can be successfully extracted from it. There are two types of iron ore found in the deposit: magnetite iron ore and vanadium-rich magnetite iron ore. The average grade of magnetite iron ore is around 35%.
Over the past few years, the mine has experienced significant development and improvement. The number of miners has decreased from 1,400 in the 70s to 700 in the 80s, with richer ore reserves. The mineral reserves of Yunnan Hui Min Iron Mine are significantly higher than those of other iron ore mines in the region. The mine has been actively exploring advanced technologies to increase ore extraction and improve the quality of ores mined.
Since its establishment in 1978, the company has invested significantly in developing a stable rail infrastructure in order to move the mined ores efficiently to their processing plant. The rail has a total length of 109 km and a width of 1.435 m, making it the main rail line in the region. The rail line was built to improve the production capacity of the mine and reduce transport cost, thus making the internal transportation more efficient.
Overall, Yunnan Hui Min Iron Mine is an important source of iron ore in the region, and its ore reserves are also suitable for further exploitation. With the rail line expansion project, the mine is expected to experience a significant boost in further exploration, development and production. This would not only benefit the company, but also the local economy of the region as a whole.
