4 Designation

Each category steel is represented by code and grade, preceded with Chinese characters of “heating furnace welded tube”, four digit number indicating the categories are followed by the code and grade .

5 Chemical composition

5.1 Types, chemical compositions and mechanical properties for the thick-walled steel for heating furnace welded tube are given in table 1.

5.2 For the steel not specified in this standard, their chemical compositions may be agreed upon between the supplier and the purchaser.

6 Steel sampling, analysis and delivery

6.1 Sampling

Sampling should be conducted according to the provision of GB 222-84.

6.2 Analysis

Chemical composition should be analysed according to the provisions of GB223-84 or in agreement between supplier and purchaser.

6.3 Delivery

The supplier should provide steel certificate indicating heat grade, chemical composition, heat treatment and mechanical properties as specified in this standard.

This standard is applicable to the manufacture of carbon steel, carbon manganese steel, low-alloy steel and austenitic stainless steel various specifications of seamless steel pipe for heating furnace.

The chemical composition of the steel pipe should conform to the chemical requirements in table 1. The mechanical properties of the steel pipe should meet the requirements in table 2. Physical properties and testing standards should meet the requirements in table 3.

The steel pipe should be manufactured by hot or cold rolling, or by hot extrusion pprocedure. The surface of the steel pipe should be free from defects and should not produce marks when marked by a pen. For details about the surface quality, size range and marking of the steel pipe, please refer to table 4, table 5 and table 6 respectively.

Relevant emery paper should be prepared in each stage of production process, with grade P240-P600. Based on the chemical composition of the steel and the surface quality, proper annealing temperature should be selected. In addition, annealing of the steel pipe should be carried out in a reducing atmosphere. For details, please refer to table 8.

The production process of the steel pipe should adhere to the requirements in table 9, including system rules, heat treatment process, quenching and tempering process, precision rolling, inspection and testing and other contents.

This standard is applicable for use in heating furnace, fire proofing material and other fields which requires application of steel pipes.
