Antimony roasting is the process of oxidizing antimony sulfide ore to antimony oxide, and finally obtaining antimony metal. This process can be divided into three steps: raw material pre-treatment, roasting and antimony metal smelting.
Raw material preprocessing
Raw antimony ore is a sulfide ore composed of antimony sulfide and gangue minerals such as quartz, carbonate and pyrite. The preprocessing step of the antimony roasting process is to crush, screen, and wash the ore to remove impurities adhered to the surface of the ore.
Roasting
The roasting process is one of the main operations in antimony smelting. It has the function of removing sulfur from the ore, oxidizing the ore and recovering part of the antimony. At the same time, it plays an important role in the preparation and increase of smelting furnace materials. The roasting methods are: the most commonly used method is to combine oxygen and coal, use fired bricks to form an oxidizing-reducing reaction furnace or a multi-barrel roaster, feed the combustible material and the antimony sulfide ore, and burn the combustible material in a closed heated zone to generate a high temperature. Then use the generated heat to oxidize the antimony sulfide to antimony oxide.
Smelting
After the roasting process is complete, the antimony produced is impure. Heating the smelting furnace with a high temperature can reduce the impurity content in the antimony. The antimony obtained in the high temperature smelting furnace is high purity antimony, which is then cooled and the molten antimony is directed to the casting pit for cooling and solidification.
Environmental protection
Smelting and roasting of antimony will release a large amount of smoke and dust into the air, which is very harmful to nature and peoples living environment. Therefore, in the process of antimony smelting and roasting, we must take effective dust removal measures, take dust from the source, and reduce the dust concentration in the air. In the dust removal process, the key is to use bag-type dust collector, capture dust in the air and discharge clean air through the outlet, thus purifying the air
