Minerals have been an essential part of many technological advances and have enabled humans to build the world as we know it today. Despite the importance of minerals, the world is facing a pending crisis of mineral depletion.

Minerals are non-renewable resources that formed over millions, if not billions, of years. This means that once a mineral is extracted from the ground, it is gone forever. Moreover, due to their finite nature, minerals are not evenly distributed around the world, meaning some countries and regions have more access to minerals than others. Furthermore, the process of extracting minerals from the ground can be extremely damaging.
