Ultrasonic Level Meter
Ultrasonic level meters are common and practical instruments used in various industries and applications. They are used to measure the height, depth or level of liquids or materials in containers or reservoirs. Ultrasonic level meters measure the time taken by sound waves to travel from the instrument to the liquid surface and back to the instrument, then converted into a distance measurement.
Ultrasonic level meters are composed of sensors, transducers, velocity and correction elements, receivers, electronic systems and transmitters. The sensors are the main measuring element and measure the distance to the surface of the liquid. This measurement is usually done by reverberation, which involves sending sound in pulses, then measuring the time it takes for the sound wave to travel from the ultrasonic level meter to the surface of the liquid and back to the instrument. The velocity of sound in the liquid is assumed to be constant, so the difference in transmission time is then calculated.
Different types of ultrasonic level are used for different application. For example, coaxial ultrasonic level meter can measure the height of a liquid in a closed system. This type of meter is well suited for measuring liquid in large vessels; such as, storage tanks, water towers, cooling towers and other large containers. It uses a pulse to gauge the level and is often used to measure liquids with suspended materials.
High frequency ultrasonic level meters are well suited for measuring liquid in dirty and turbulent environments. These types of meters use a higher frequency than conventional meters to ensure accuracy. They are also ideal for measuring liqiuds with suspended materials, such as wastewater and industrial waste. They are often used in industrial sites and can also be used to detect leaks or changes in the liquid level.
Ultrasonic level meters can also be used to measure the level of materials in a container. This type of meter is usually mounted on a stand and uses ultrasonic signals to track the height of the material in the container. The height is then displayed on a digital readout or in the form of a graph. They are ideal for measuring materials with varying density.
Ultrasonic level meters offer many advantages for applications where precision measurements of liquid levels or material height is needed.
