Copper alloy straight pouring passages and horizontal pouring passages are the common parts of pouring system. The correct size of these two types of pouring passages is an important factor to ensure the quality of casting parts and the service life of pouring system. The copper alloy of pouring passages should meet the requirements of pouring system. This article mainly introduces the size requirements of copper alloy straight pouring passages and horizontal pouring passages.
1、Copper alloy straight pouring passages:
Straight pouring passages are generally made of copper alloy with low melting point. The length and size of straight pouring passages must match the characteristics of casting parts. The size and number of straight pouring passages of different models are different, and must comply with the following requirements:
1)The width of straight pouring passages should not be less than 8~10mm, otherwise it will cause air holes in the casting parts.
2)The length of straight pouring passages is usually not less than 150~200mm, depending on the size of the casting parts.
3)When the length of straight pouring passages is required to be long and the wall thickness is small, it is best to use large casting core or insert core welding process to reduce the wall thickness and improve the casting quality.
4)The size of straight pouring passages should be smaller than that of horizontal pouring passages, and the number of straight pouring passages should not be too small.
2、Copper alloy horizontal pouring passages:
The horizontal pouring passages are the connection between straight pouring passages and riser, and their size is related to the shrinkage rate of mould material and the calculation of riser. Too large or too small horizontal pouring passages will cause deviations of casting parts, cracks and other issues. Therefore, the size of the horizontal pouring passage should meet the size requirements.
1)The width of horizontal pouring passages should not be less than 14~15mm, otherwise it will cause air holes in the casting parts.
2)For general parts, the length of the horizontal pouring passage should be 70~80mm, and for long casting parts, the length should be increased accordingly.
3)The verticality of the horizontal pouring passage should reach 70-90%, otherwise it will cause air channeling and other casting defects.
4)The height of the horizontal pouring passage should be less than 60mm, otherwise it will cause shrinkage defects.
In summary, the size of copper alloy straight pouring passages and horizontal pouring passages should be determined according to the size and characteristics of the casting parts. The design of straight and horizontal pouring passages is an important factor to ensure the quality of casting parts and the service life of pouring system. Only when the design of pouring passages is perfect can the desired casting effect be achieved.
