Abstract

In order to reduce the weight and size of large vertical pumps, reduce the use cost of the bearings, and improve working efficiency, this paper studies the application of water bearing replacing oil bearing on large vertical pump. Compared with the oil bearing, the water bearing has a light weight, small volume and its cooling rapidly, so it can be applied to the rotors of high-speed large vertical pumps. The specific experiment results proved that the structure of water bearing was reliable, and its running parameters were in conformity with national standards. Its efficiency and mechanical life were significantly improved. Therefore, replacing oil bearing with water bearing on large vertical pump has achieved a remarkable effect.

Introduction

Large-scale vertical pumps are widely used in construction sites, water conservancy projects and energy exploration, and the bearing is the important component which supports the rotating shaft. It is well known that oil bearing is the common type of bearing used in large vertical pumps. Compared with water bearing, oil bearing features low installation precision and its volume is large, so it cant meet the requirements of weight reduction and volume reduction of large vertical pumps. Therefore, it is of great significance for the development of large vertical pumps to research the applicability and performance of water bearing in this field.

Analysis of structure and performance of water bearing

The structure of the water bearing is mainly composed of two sets of sleeve bearing assemblies, a well block and an oil chamber. The sleeve bearing assembly is made of high-carbon chromium bearing steel and is equipped with an automatic aligning device.The cooling water is supplied by an independent water cooling device, and the coolant is circulated through the gap between the bearing and the bearing bush by the outlet and the inlet of the coolant, so that the shaft can bring a good high-speed lubrication effect.

In order to meet the demand of large vertical pumps, this water bearing adopts a tapering sleeve type design, which can improve the stiffness between the bearing and the bearing bush, reduce the horizontal load, and compensate for wear.The performance parameters of the water bearing is much better than those of the oil bearing. It has a high load capacity and its mechanical life can reach 100 thousand hours. Its running accuracy meets the requirements of national standards, and its bearing capacity is significantly improved compared with that of oil bearing.

Experiment and Conclusion

According to the design requirements, two water bearings were installed on the rotors of two large vertical pumps. The normal operating temperature of the bearing water was controlled below 40℃. After test running,the measured value of vibration velocity was 2.2, running temperature was 40℃, bearing temperature was 36℃, and the running noise met the requirements of application standards. The experiment results showed that the structure and performance of the water bearing were reliable, and its operating parameters were in conformity with national standards.

Conclusion

In summary, replacing oil bearing with water bearing in large vertical pump can effectively reduce the weight of the pump, improve the operating efficiency, and reduce the cost of use. The specific experiment verified that the structure and performance of the water bearing is reliable, and it has achieved the obvious effect of replacing oil bearing with water bearing.
