Keyhole drilling

Keyhole drilling is a technique to process thicker workpieces. Instead of tapping a hole along the full depth of the hole, keyhole drilling is done in three stages. First, a hole is drilled over a short distance. A second hole is then drilled close to the first one, with the two holes overlapped. Finally, these two holes are combined into one hole of the required size. This technique is used in cases where the drilling equipment cannot drill deep holes in one go, due to size constraints.

Head slotting

Head slotting is the technique used to provide a slot shaped hole in a workpiece. Instead of drilling a hole and then assembling the parts separately, this technique eliminates the need to assemble workpieces. This is done by creating a slot shaped hole, which can later be used to assemble two or more parts together. Head slotting usually requires a slotting machine, which is specially designed for this purpose.

Tapping

Tapping is the process of cutting a female thread into the surface of a workpiece. It is usually done with special tapping tools, which are made from a wide range of materials and come in different shapes and sizes. This technique is usually used when assembling different components to create a finished product.

Turn Milling

Turn milling is the technique used to create milled parts with a lathe. Instead of using a milling machine to cut the parts, the parts are machined with a lathe which can rotating around a central point. This technique is commonly used in the automotive industry, as it allows parts to be milled with a high level of accuracy and precision.

Flat milling

Flat milling is the technique used to create flat surfaces with a milling machine. This technique is usually used on workpieces with low complexity and high tolerance requirements. It is most often used on large parts such as engine blocks, as the flat surface can be produced with a single setup.

Fly cutting

Fly cutting is a very fast and efficient technique for machining complex parts. Instead of using a conventional milling cutter, this technique uses a high-speed rotating wheel which produces a continuous cut along a workpiece. This technique is commonly used to produce accurate surfaces with a high level of accuracy and precision.

Tangential milling

Tangential milling is the technique used to produce a inclined surface on a workpiece. Instead of rotating around a central point, the cutting tool moves in a circle while the workpiece is held stationary. This technique produces a very precise surface, which can be used for a variety of applications.

Edge machining

Edge machining is the technique used to cut edges with a cutting tool. This technique can be used to cut straight edges, curved edges, and mixed edges. Edge machining is usually used for producing complex parts, as the cutting tool is able to produce a high level of accuracy and precision.

Face milling

Face milling is the technique used to produce surfaces on a workpiece. This technique can be used for a range of different materials, from plastics to metals. It is usually used for producing flat, inclined, or curved surfaces on a workpiece.
