With the improvement of the process and level of industrial technology, the traditional heavy media separator, based on the principle of flotation process, has been widely accepted in the industry. In recent years, with the increasing demand for fine mineral processing and the promotion of resource development, slurry heavy medium separation equipment has developed rapidly.

Slurry heavy media separators are mainly used to separate minerals with a coarse-grained mineralogy from those of fine grain. Heavy media separators are widely used in fields of coal, precious metal minerals and aggregate. The increased demand for higher efficiency and lower cost has driven the development of this industry and promoted the emergence of a new model of the heavy media separation reactor, namely the slurry heavy media separator.

The slurry heavy media separator combines traditional flotation technology with vacuum technology to separate heavy minerals from finely-grained source material. First, a suspension of ore and heavy media is filled into the storage tank, and then sent to the slurry mixing pipeline. The mixing pipeline is composed of a sedimentation tank and a cyclone.

The solid particles of the feed are first separated by the sedimentation tank, and then the solid and the liquid solution are sent to the cyclone. In the cyclone, the lighter solution is separated from the heavier slurry and the two output pipes will be respectively sent to different processes. The heavier slurry is pumped to particle separation chamber of the slurry heavy media separator.

In the particle separation chamber, the metal ore particles in the slurry are first collected by an induction fan and then further separated by centrifugal force. The greater the centrifugal force, the higher the separation efficiency, and the more accurate the particle size sorting. After separation, the metal ore particles will snap out through the ejection port, and the separated tailings will be re-separated after a certain time.

The slurry heavy media separation equipment has the characteristics of high automation, low energy consumption and large processing capacity, making it widely used for ore separation. The slurry heavy media separator also increases the efficiency of mineral beneficiation and has been widely accepted and promoted in the mineral processing industry.
