Global Financial Management Association
The Global Financial Management Association (GFMA) is an international association that serves as the global policy reform advocate and network for the global financial services industry. Through its member organizations, GFMA works to develop and implement consistent global financial services standards, produce policy research and data to inform effective industry regulation, and represent the collective voice of the global industry on the international stage.
The GFMA’s mission is to ensure that the global financial services industry is competitive, well regulated, resilient, and transparent so that it can provide products and services that best serve customers and benefit the global economy. To fulfill this mission, GFMA works with its members and stakeholders to develop policies and standards for the industry, as well as research, educate and advocate for the responsible use of financial services.
Often working in partnership with global groups such as the Group of Twenty (G20) and the Financial Stability Board (FSB), GFMA has long sought to improve global risk management and regulatory practices while also promoting compliance with international standards. To that end, GFMA uses a multi-pronged approach, working with members, governments, and regulatory and supervisory bodies.
GFMA is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of leading members of the global financial services industry. The GFMA is also organized into global committees, which are composed of global financial institutions and industry participants, each of which works to shape public policy with the aim of achieving financial services objectives.
In addition to its policy influencing activities, the GFMA also offers a range of educational and training programs to help financial services executives and staff better understand the markets in their region, as well as best practices in the global financial services industry.
