Comparison of yield strength and tensile strength of 40Mn high quality carbon structural steel with other steel grades
When selecting suitable steel grades for design and construction, the two most important considerations are the strength of the steel and the tensile and yield strengths. 40Mn high quality carbon structural steel, a type of steel with a carbon content of 0.37%, belongs to 40Mn series plain carbon structural steels with a yield strength of about 420 MPa at 20°C. Depending on the heat-treatment process and different thicknesses, the yield strength values can be up to 495 MPa.
Compared to other plain carbon structural steels, such as the widely used 15Mn, 20Mn and 30Mn, the yield strength of 40Mn low quality carbon structural steel is significantly higher.
