Rolling bearings are widely used in various machinery due to their good rolling performance and low friction characteristics, such as cars and aircraft. However, the bearings are loaded with friction, pressure and other external forces during use, and gradually wear and tear, thereby reducing the service life of the bearing. Therefore, the correct use and prevention of damage of rolling bearings is an important factor in extending their service life.
During use, the rolling bearing is the most easily damaged. The main damage form of rolling bearing is wear, seizure and rust. The causes of bearing damage are roughly divided into two categories: one is caused by improper use and the other is caused by quality problems of the bearing itself.
For bearing damage caused by improper use, it is mainly caused by excessive load, incorrect assembling method, excessive radial clearance and lack of lubricant. Therefore, it is necessary to select a bearing type of appropriate size and material according to the load and rotation speed of the machine; the bearing installation method must be correct; the radial clearance should be within the specified range. Too small or too large clearance will cause bearing damage; the bearing must be properly lubricated, and the type and amount of lubricant must be appropriate. When the temperature is too high or too low, it is necessary to select the lubricant according to the temperature. When the ambient temperature is too low, the machine should be preheated before starting to ensure that the bearing is not damaged.
For bearing damage caused by its own quality problems, it is generally caused by inadequate processing accuracy, poor material used, excessive internal stress and assembly defects of components. Therefore, when selecting rolling bearings, it is necessary to buy from regular manufacturers, choose better quality and reasonable matching. Before assembly, bearings should be cleaned, visually inspected and measured for dimensions, radial clearance and rotation accuracy.
In addition, in order to protect the rolling bearing, when it is idle, it is necessary to protect it from water, rust and corrosive gas, and use a plastic film or rust inhibitor as a plastic film. When the bearing is not used for a long time, it should be kept in a cool, dry and ventilated place.
To sum up, bearing damage can be effectively avoided by proper selection, reasonable installation, reasonable lubrication and reasonable maintenance. Therefore, users should pay attention to these issues in the design, use and maintenance of rolling bearings.
