Characteristics of Universal Hole Type System for Steel Rail in China
Steel rail, which plays an important role in railway transportation, has been a hot research topic in China in recent years. Researchers have developed a universal hole type system for adoption in steel rails to meet increasing demand in the railway industry.
This universal hole type system mainly consists of drilling machines for the pre-treatment of steel rails and two drilling systems for deep holes and shallow holes. The deep hole drilling systems use gundrilling machines, which can drill holes with diameters from 6~80mm, to drill holes in the middle of an axis with a tolerance up to 0.02mm. The shallow hole drilling system uses modified drilling machines that can drill holes from 0.6- 8mm with a higher precision of 0.01mm. Meanwhile, these two drilling systems are of different power and speed. On one hand, the deep hole drilling system is applied at a higher speed (up to 20000m/n) and much larger power (up to 160kW). On the other hand, the shallow hole drilling system is usually operated at lower speed (up to 10,000m/n) and lower power (up to 9kW).
In addition, the universal hole type system also has advantages like high efficiency and long service life. It can have a longer service life of up to 8,000 hours (2 years). This system is also featured by high material utilization rate due to its excellent material assembling techniques. In terms of safety, the system adopts advanced monitoring methods to adjust operational variability and detect hidden danger in time.
The universal hole type system for steel rail in China can effectively help to improve the accuracy, quality and safety of steel rail production. Especially, with the feature of high efficiency and long service life, it can reduce the production cost and promote the development of railway industry in China.
