Introduction to Stamping Die
Stamping die is also known as cold stamping die. It is the name for the precision metalworking tool that make various shaped parts by the shaped hole of die plate and the matrix by cutting, punching and pressing of the stamping die.
Stamping die consists of five parts: die plate, punch, die block, retainers and counter die. During stamping process, the blank fed into the stamping machine, then processed by the punch and the die block of the stamping die, and lastly get the final shape.
The stamping die has the characteristics of high precision, high productivity, low cost and long service life, so it is widely used in the major industries. The application of stamping die can produce products with more accurate and highly reliable quality. In short, stamping die is a necessary and important tool in manufacturing industry.
Classification of Stamping Die
According to the forming process, stamping die can be divided into cutting die, blanking die, bending die, shallow drawing die and deep drawing die.
Cutting Die
Cutting die is a kind of stamping die which uses upper die, lower die and punch set to cut the material into different shapes as per the requirement. It is typically used for cutting and punching the sheet material into pieces. The cutting die should be designed and manufactured with high precision to ensure the accuracy of the finished product.
Blanking Die
Blanking die is a kind of stamping die for blanking or punching the sheet material into specified shape or size. The blanking die consists of the punch and die block, and the material is punched into a piece through the stamping process. The blanking die is usually characterized by its high accuracy and lower production cost.
Bending Die
Bending die is a kind of stamping die which uses the shaping punch to bend a certain angle on the sheet material. It is mainly used for bending metal sheet into 180 degrees in order to make hinges, brackets, frames and other mechanical components.
Shallow Drawing Die
Shallow drawing die is used to make monolayer metal components such as screws, automobile parts, and other metal tools. The shallow drawing die consists of two parts, punch and die block, as well as other components such as guide block and draft block.
Deep Drawing Die
Deep drawing die is a kind of stamping die which consists of both upper and lower die, and the punch is used to press the metal sheet in order to draw the metal into a specific shape. The deep drawing die is mainly used for producing shape of the product with the height more than three times the radius of the punch.
Advantages of Stamping Die
The stamping die can provide many benefits to the manufacturers, including:
High Efficiency
High precision
Low cost
Ability to process complex shapes
Flexible production
Wide range of materials
High volume manufacturing
Quick setup time
Conclusion
Stamping die is a kind of metalworking tool which is used to create various shapes from metal sheets with precision. It is classified into cutting die, blanking die, bending die, shallow drawing die and deep drawing die, and it has many benefits for the manufacturers, such as high efficiency, high precision, low cost and flexible production.
