Introduction
The Shanghai Metals Society (SMS) is one of the oldest organizations in China dedicated to the advancement of knowledge related to the science and technology of metals and alloys. Structure of SMS

•The SMS Office, which comprises the staff of a staffed office in charge of the communications and operations of the Society;

•The General Assembly, which is the supreme governing body of the Society, with the ultimate authority on the Societys objectives and policies;
•Delegates and members, who are the four founding Members of the Society, delegates from the various countries in which the Society operates, and individuals associated with the Society through their participation in various activities;
•Sub-percentages, and subsidiary institutions and organizations which form part of the SMS institutional network.
Objectives
The objectives of the Society are to promote and advance the knowledge, research, and applications of the science and technology of metallurgy and materials in China. These objectives include:
•Promoting the contents of metallurgy, materials and related applications;
•Fostering research and development in applied metallurgical sciences;
•Strengthening the links between industry, academics and government bodies related to metallurgy and materials engineering;
