Size, shape, weight and allowable deviation of hot rolled steel plate and steel strip
1. Introduction
The purpose of this GB/T 709-2006 is to regulate the size, shape, weight and allowable deviation of hot-rolled steel plate and steel strip. Steel plates and strips are essential components in many industrial and civil structures and serve as the basic materials for various construction projects. Therefore, it is necessary to unify the size, shape, weight and allowable deviation of hot-rolled steel plates and steel strips.
2. Normative references
The provisions of GB/T 222 Permissible Tolerances for Chemical Composition of Steel Products are applicable in the determination of size, shape, weight and allowable deviation of hot-rolled steel plates and steel strips.
3. Dimensions and parameters of hot-rolled steel plates
The dimensions of hot-rolled steel plates are as follows: width and nominal thickness of plates as well as the allowable deviation between width and nominal thickness of plates are Ys in Table 1. The titles of the hot-rolled steel plates are steel plates with nominal thickness from 4 mm to 200 mm.
Table 1 Dimensions and parameters of Hot-Rolled Steel Plates
Nominal Thickness

4≤t≤200mm (mm) Width
4≤t≤200mm(mm)
Below 2000 1400-2000 ± t
Above 2000 2000 ± t
The length of steel plates can be customized according to the requirements of users.
4. Size and parameters of Hot-rolled steel strip
The size of hot-rolled steel strip is as follows: width and thickness of steel strip and allowable deviation between width and thickness of steel strip are as shown in Table 2. The title of the hot-rolled steel strip is a steel strip with a nominal thickness greater than or equal to 4mm but less than or equal to 25mm.

The length of steel rolls can be customized according to the requirements of users.
5. Weight and Allowable Deviation of Hot Rolled Steel Plate and Steel Strap
The weight of the hot-rolled steel plates and steel strips and the allowable deviation shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 222.
6. Other provisions
All uncertainty values in this standard are expressed in terms of absolute value.
This standard goes into effect on December 1, 2006.
