Roll gap adjustment between two guide roller is a critical factor in controlling the tension of the process. In order to improve the accuracy and stability of the materials during machine processing, usually between two rollers need to adjust the roll gap. There are two common methods of roll gap adjustment between two guide roller: manual and motorized methods.
1. Manual Roll Gap Adjustment
Manual roll gap adjustment is the most commonly used method for adjusting the gap between two guide roller. This method is relatively simple and economical, and applicable for small scale production. The action of manual roll gap adjustment is done by a manual hand wheel, which is used to adjust the thread end of the threaded rod, or the manual hand wheel winding length of the trapezoidal thread adjusting screw.
Pros:
• Simple to use and economical.
• Suitable for small and medium-sized production occasions.
Cons:
• The adjustment and locking process of trapezoidal thread setting screw takes longer, and operation is more complicated.
• The adjustment accuracy of manual hand wheel is related to the operation and experience of the operator, and the adjustment accuracy is not very high.
2. Motorized Roll Gap Adjustment
Motorized roll gap adjustment is usually powered by AC220V voltage and controlled by electric button. It is very convenient in operation and precise in adjusting gap between two guide roller. The motorized roll gap adjustment uses a servo-button connection system. When button is pressed, the servo motor drives the transmission shaft to rotate and finally achieves the precise gap adjustment.
Pros:
• Quick in operation, and precise in adjustment.
• Operated in a precise and stable speed, which results in precise gap controlling.
• No need for manual operation and less labor costs.
Cons:
• Expensive cost, which is not suitable for small production.
• High electricity consumption and some related security issues.
Adjustment of the gap between the two guide rollers is a critical factor for controlling the tension of the process. The manual roll gap adjustment method is relatively simply, and it is economical. However, it is less precise, thus unsuitable for high accuracy requirements. On the other hand, the motorized roll gap adjustment method is more accurate, which is suitable for precise production. But it is an expensive method. Therefore, careful consideration should be made based on the specific application to decide which roll gap adjusting method is suitable.
