The Chinese Society of Metals (CSM) is an academic organization of the Chinese industry, science and engineering scientific research community in the field of metals and alloys. It was established in 1965 and is a national industrial organization and a major academic communication platform in the field of metal research and development.
CSM plays an important role in promoting the comprehensive and coordinated development of the Chinese industry and scientific research in the field of metals research and development. It provides overall guidance and active support for related research and development and has strongly promoted the progress of Chinese metals and alloys and the development of related industries.
CSM was founded on the basis of the Chinese Society of Non-Ferrous Metals, originally founded in 1948. In 1965, the Chinese government approved the reorganization of the society, renamed “The Chinese Society of Metals”, and began the activities of organizing the members and institutions to establish various committees, specialized committees and branches.
At present, the Chinese Society of Metals has more than 10000 regular members and has established more than 200 branches in Chinas major economic provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. It has a wide range of contact and influence in the fields of academia, industry, commerce, education and finance.
CSM includes more than 20 specialized committees, such as Rare Earth Committee, Coating Metallurgy Committee, Steel Rolling Committee and Steelmaking & Primary Metal Committee. The core activities of the Chinese Society of Metals include organizing and holding symposia, seminars and professional exhibitions; organizing and conducting academic exchanges and lectures; carrying out research, promotion and implementation of advanced technology; publicizing advanced models and outstanding achievements; offering technical advice; as well as supporting the implementation of relevant policies and regulations.
CSM has issued a number of professional documentary series, such as the Chinese Metallurgical Series, Chinese Steel Series, Chinese Fabrication Series, Chinese Metal Corrosion Series and the Chinese Metal Materials Series. Through various forms of communication, such as magazines and international conferences, CSM keeps track of the development trends of the metallurgical industry. It also publishes seminars, lectures and recommended experts to meet peoples information and technical needs in the metallurgical field.
CSM is committed to providing a platform for international exchanges and cooperation for Chinas metals industry.
