Q460C, Q460D, and Q460E are quenched and tempered structural steels made to the GB / T 1591-2008 standard. They all possess high yield strength, good formability and weldability and are used in a variety of applications. Primarily, these steels are found in the construction of bridges, towers, and other structures as well as in the manufacture of off-highway vehicles, agricultural and forestry machinery and industrial machinery.

Q460C is of low alloy steel grade, always supplied in the as rolled condition. It is used widely in the construction, manufacturing and offshore industries. In the as-rolled condition, the Q460C steel delivers good mechanical properties within dimensional limits. The yield strength of this grade is 460MPa, which is higher than those of other grades available. Unlike other grades of steel, the Q460C grade is not specified with guaranteed mechanical properties. Its high yield strength allows for a more economical design in comparison with higher yield strength alternatives.

Q460D is a high strength low alloy steel grade used primarily in construction and structural applications. It is suitable for applications such as welded bridges, frames and general steel structures. This grade has a high yield strength of 510 MPa, which makes it ideal for the construction of structures in regions where seismic forces are present. It also has good formability and weldability, allowing for a variety of fabrication methods.

Q460E is the highest strength structural steel grade in the GB/T 1591-2008 standard. This material is often used in bridges, tall buildings, frame structures and off-highway vehicles such as mining vehicles, agricultural and forestry machinery. Q460E is characterized by good formability and weldability, which gives it the ability to be used in a variety of fabrication methods. It is also widely used in applications requiring high yield strength. In addition to its strength, Q460E also features excellent fatigue resistance, which makes it a suitable choice for the construction of bridges and tall buildings in seismic regions.

These three grades of structural steel find wide application in a variety of industries and sectors. Their combination of good formability, high yield strength and weldability make them popular choices for use in bridges and tall buildings, as well as mining, forestry and agricultural machinery. As a result, these three grades of structural steel have become the go-to choice for many construction projects and industrial applications.
