Hydraulic Horizontal Lathe Operating Procedure
1. Select the correct feed rate for the material and workpiece. For general workpieces, the feed rate is 0.05-0.1 mm/r; for cast iron materials, the feed rate is 0.1-0.15 mm/r; for steel materials, the feed rate should be 0.2 mm/r. When a large radial cutting force is encountered, the feed rate should be reduced appropriately.
2. Power on the horizontal lathe, check the pressure gauge and oil level in the radiator to ensure that the pressure is sufficient and the cooling system is working properly. Moreover, before starting the machine, check whether the cooling system and lubrication system are operating normally and whether the control system is working correctly.
3. Fasten the workpiece securely and make sure it is firmly clamped in the vertical vice. When working with large workpieces, it is necessary to ensure that the workpiece is firmly clamped and has enough space during operation.
4. Before turning the workpiece, use a cloth to remove the rust, dirt and foreign objects on the workpiece. Then, judge whether the setup is accurate and reliable.
5. Start the horizontal lathe and gradually raise the speed to the required rate. Then, use the cross feeding handle to feed the tool into the workpiece.
6. During the turning process, the operator should always adjust the speed and feed rate to achieve the best machining result. As for the size and shape of the workpiece, the operator should make appropriate adjustments to the speed of the feed travel and the depth of the cutter.
7. When turning at the end of a workpiece, the operator should greatly reduce the feed rate and gradually reduce the speed.
8. After completing the turning operation, the workpiece should be removed from the horizontal lathe before being loosed from the clamp.
9. After the turning operation is completed, the operator should clean up the machine and all the tools used. Then, the machine can be resumed to its original location and parts should be placed in the designated position.
10. Before powering off the horizontal lathe, the operator should check the workpiece and ensure that all the parts are in good condition.
By following all the steps outlined in this operaing procedure, the operator can ensure safe and efficient operation of the hydraulic horizontal lathe.
