Real Quality of Life

Apart from financial issues, what really needs to be taken into account when considering quality of life? Real quality of life is much more than financial issues. It has to do with both internal and external factors, many of which are often overlooked.

Internal factors that affect real quality of life include physical health and mental well being. The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” In order to have real quality of life, a person needs to have a healthy balance of physical and mental health. This means that regular exercise, healthy eating, and attending to mental health needs are essential for real quality of life.

External factors that affect real quality of life include access to public services such as education, healthcare and transportation. These services provide people with the tools to improve their quality of life. Education can provide people with the skills to get a better job or start a business. Healthcare provides medical care and treatment to keep people healthy and well. Transportation provides the means for people to get to work, to access services, and to engage in leisure activities.

Finally, social relationships are another essential factor for real quality of life. People need to have meaningful relationships in order to have a good quality of life. This includes relationships with family and friends, but also with the broader community. Participating in activities such as volunteer programs, religious organizations, or political groups can provide a sense of belonging and help to foster real quality of life.

In conclusion, real quality of life is much more than just financial factors. In order to have real quality of life, a person needs to have a healthy balance of physical and mental health, have access to the necessary public services, and have meaningful social relationships. All of these factors can help a person to live life to its fullest.
