Measures to Prevent Blockage of Immersed Water Inlet in Continuous Casting Middle Pot

Continuous casting middle pot is an important part of the steelmaking process, which is usually equipped with immersed water inlet. The immersed water inlet is mainly used to add water quickly and accurately to the molten steel liquid in the continuous casting middle pot. It is an important guarantee for the precise control of steel temperature, steel fluidity and steel quenching.

However, due to improper use, operation, cleaning and maintenance of submerged water inlet in continuous casting middle pot, it is easy to cause blockage and affect the normal operation of submerged water inlet. The possible causes of the blockage of the submerged water inlet in the continuous casting middle pot are mainly as follows:

1. The sand particles in the casting process enter the water inlet channels of the submerged water inlet, resulting in blocked and narrowed channels, resulting in blockage.

2. Nonmetallic materials and impurities in the molten steel adhered to the inner wall of the water inlet pipe after the water inlet then accumulate over time to form blockage.

3. Due to improper cleaning and maintenance of the pipeline system, the oxide scale generated by the inner wall of the water inlet will accumulate and form a blockage inside the water inlet.

In order to prevent blockage of immersed water inlet in continuous casting middle pot, the following measures should be taken:

1.When using immersed water inlet for water addition, the water quantity should be increased or decreased as appropriate. Too small water quantity is easy to cause blockage.

2. The pipeline system in the submerged water inlet should be inspected and overhauled regularly, and the debris in the pipeline should be cleared timely. In addition, if the inner wall of the water inlet pipe is not timely cleared away, the valve should be opened and the impurities should be forced to be discharged.

3. The water quality of the submerged water inlet in the continuous casting middle pot should be monitored. If the water contains suspended sand particles and other non-metallic materials, its quality should be improved and filtered.

4.When introducing water into the continuous casting middle pot through the submerged water inlet, attention should be paid to controlling the introduction speed. The speed must not be too fast, which would be easily blocked.

5. The sealed surface of the flange of the submerged water inlet should be kept intact at all times, so that it can be firmly connected and effectively reduce the possibility of leakage and blockage of the entrance.

6. The submerged water inlet in the continuous casting middle pot should be maintained after disassembly. After clearing the inside and outside of the pipe, the sealing material of the flange should be cleaned, replaced or scraped in time, and the surface of the pipe should be greased to ensure that no dirt enters.

In short, the blocked water inlet will cause blockage of the submerged water inlet in the continuous casting middle pot and affect the normal production process. Therefore, we should pay more attention to the maintenance, cleaning and insulation of the water inlet, especially through the above measures, to better prevent blockage of the submerged water inlet in the continuous casting middle pot.
