The topic of this survey is the perception of job satisfaction. Most individuals typically spend more of their waking hours of the week in their workplace than anywhere else. Despite this, it is not uncommon for employees to be dissatisfied with their job. Job dissatisfaction can resonate across many aspects of life and can lead to high employee turnover rates, costs in recruitment and selection, and decreased productivity. The purpose of this survey is to gain a better understanding of the feelings and opinions of people when it comes to job satisfaction, and hopefully to use this information to create more compelling job environments.

Introduction

The purpose of this survey is to gain an understanding of the feelings and opinions of people when it comes to job satisfaction. This survey seeks to capture data to understand why individuals feel satisfied or dissatisfied with their current job, and to identify potential areas where job satisfaction can be improved. It is important to note that job satisfaction can vary greatly across individuals and workplaces, as it is influenced by a variety of individual, business and financial factors. The implication of low job satisfaction among workers may be wide-reaching and could lead to higher employee turnover rates, costs in recruitment and selection, and decreased productivity. The goal of this survey is to assess current levels of job satisfaction among employees and to determine the factors associated with this satisfaction.

Methodology

This survey used a non-random convenience sample of workers from a variety of industries and backgrounds. The results of the survey showed that respondents generally felt positively about their job, with majorities reporting feelings of satisfaction, enthusiasm and pride. However, other aspects of the job were viewed with less positivity, with respondents indicating they were least satisfied with aspects such as the rewards, the opportunities to use their skills, and the perceived lack of support. A minority of respondents also indicated they had considered switching jobs due to dissatisfaction with their current job.

Discussion

The results of this survey indicate that respondents generally feel positively about their job, with majorities reporting feelings of satisfaction, enthusiasm and pride. This suggests that in many cases the current job environment is providing employees with a sense of accomplishment and connectedness. Despite this, the survey also revealed areas which elicit more negative feelings from employees.
