Other Boring Machines
In recent years, the number of other boring machines that are used in different industries has been steadily increasing. While the main purpose of these machines is to bore specific objects, they can also be used for other purposes such as drilling, machining, and reaming. Here are some of the types of other boring machines that are commonly used in the industry today.
Cylinder boring machine - The cylinder boring machine is used in the automotive industry to enlarge and finish the inside of an engine cylinder. They are powered by either electric or petrol motors and can be used for both single and multiple cylinder applications.
Deep hole boring gun - This machine is used to bore out large, deep holes in such things as pipes, structural towers, and blocks. Deep hole boring guns use special drills that are capable of drilling holes up to two meters deep.
Line boring machine - These machines are used to bore out multiple, evenly spaced holes in a long line. This is commonly used for repairing frames in locomotives, trucks, and earth moving equipment.
Vertical boring machines - These machines are used for boring out large and complex hole patterns in large vertical structures such as turbine housings, large plate steel, and slotting and planing operations.
Horizontal boring machine - This type of boring machine is used mostly to bore large, flat workpieces such as table tops and structure plates. The machine can move horizontally along the workpiece while boring out the necessary features.
Boring saws - These machines are used to cut wider and deeper holes into materials such as wood and concrete. Boring saws are typically used in construction and carpentry applications.
Multi head boring machines - These machines are used when multiple bores need to be bored at the same time. The machine allows for multiple spindles to be attached to the machine, allowing for multiple bores simultaneously.
Pocketing machines - These machines are used to cut pockets or slots into a material and are typically used in the manufacturing of electronic parts. They use a cutterbit which oscillates against a material while a fixed cutterbit cuts out the desired components.
Contour boring machine - This type of machine is used to follow a specific contour or design into a certain material. They use a complex system of gears and levers to create the desired shape.
These are just a few of the types of boring machines that are becoming more and more important in the manufacturing industry. Each type of machine is designed for specific tasks, and knowing which machine you should choose for your application is essential. While many of these machines can be bought off the shelf, some are custom made for a specific application. It is important to research the machines prior to purchasing one to ensure that it meets your needs.
