Good vs. Evil
Good vs. Evil is an age old concept. Many people see it as a black and white battle; that is, one side is completely good while the other is completely evil. There are numerous stories, books, movies, etc. that glorify the fight between good and evil. But is this really the case?
Good is typically associated with righteousness, justice, order and morality. Good people often do assistance for the well-being of others, voluntarily or involuntarily. Good is seen as an opportunity for something positive. It’s not just about doing the right things, it’s also about standing up for the defenseless, preserving justice, and protecting values. In the Bible, God is associated with good and Satan is associated with evil. As such, it’s natural that both good and evil are commonly associated with religious beliefs.
On the other hand, evil is often synonymous with destruction, violence, crime, and chaos. When evil is thought of, it’s usually in connection with people who cause harm either deliberately or unknowingly. In general, evil has a very negative connotation. Something or someone that is evil can be seen as a threat, or even a monster.
It seems clear that good and evil are polar opposites. But is the fight between them really black and white? Are they really as different as we make them out to be?
The truth is that good and evil are often intertwined and intertwined. There’s no clear cut line between them. We often clash with evil to protect and do what is right. And sometimes, it is not so clear what is right and what is wrong. We usually have to analyze the circumstances and make tough decisions.
