Graphite ore mining process is relatively simple, because almost all kind of graphite ore has high crystallinity, so generally just need to be crushed, then the ore will through the screening process, select different specification of graphite, and then use the graphite mineral powder after crushing and screening, to meet the size requirements of the powder as product, then through the thin sieve, removed the particles which do not meet the requirements of the product size, further processed by the special equipment, used to expand the scale of graphite product.

In the mining process, the commonly used mining methods are open-pit mining, usually by hydraulic shovel, excavator or other equipment to scoop them off the ground graphite ore.

In the grinding process, the ore need to use a milling machine, usually use a ball mill, the ball mill has a multi-point indentation within the bin, the ore is crushed with the grinding media, discharged outside the bin.

The screening process is an important process of graphite beneficiation. The commonly used screening equipment is vibrating screen, the machine uses vibration motor as mass vibration, produces dynamic force to make the material on the sieve surface for jumping motion.

In graphite concentrate flotation process, the commonly used collector is KETCA or CTA, after mixing and stirring, it can be added to a certain amount to the ore pulp in order to increase the pulp liquidity of graphite ore, so that graphite particles can easily adhere to the bubble, realize the preliminary separation of graphite concentrate from the tailings, and get the concentrate by concentrate ore hydroseparator, during the flotation process, according to the different nature of the graphite ore, it also can use different inhibitors such as NaCN and NaOH, etc.

In the beneficiation process, usually carry out a sorting operation, that is, according to the density, conduct a separation operation between the graphite ore and gangue, and then use CTO as the collector to enter the concentrate and filter out the concentrate by the filter press before use.

The graphite ore resources in China are mainly distributed in Heilongjiang, Shandong and Tianjin provinces, Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces, and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The graphite ore resources of these provinces and autonomous regions have geological reserves of 8.3 million tons, most of which are distributed in Heilongjiang, followed by Shandong. The mining of graphite ore is mainly in these six provinces and autonomous regions, with a production capacity of about 100,000 tons/year, accounting for almost 90% of the total production of China.

The occupation of graphite ore resources is mainly based on hand selection and manual beneficiation method. Such kind of beneficiation method is simple and crude, the efficiency is relatively low, and the quality of graphite products is also greatly reduced. With the rapid development of modern ore beneficiation technology, more and more advanced technologies and efficient beneficiation processes will be used to exploit and process graphite ores to better meet industry needs.
