Electroplating (also known as galvanizing)
Electroplating (也称为镀金)是一种将某种金属以非常薄膜形式附着到另一种金属表面上的化学过程。这一过程使用电化学原理来实现。具体来说，当直流电在一个金属阴极和另一个金属阳极间通过电路时，通过溶解的阳极金属被移动到阴极的表面上，从而形成极薄的一层调节层。
Electroplating镀金法的目的是为了给金属表面提供一个保护性的膜，以及增加金属的美观外观。有些表面如铁或铜的表面都需要经过镀金，才能够具有良好的装饰性和耐久性。这通常是一种很便宜又非常有用的方法。
镀金法也能够用来将其他金属覆盖到此原有金属表面上。一种常见的镀金法是使用硫酸铅镀金，这种镀金方法可以将一层铜和一层铋覆盖在铁表面上，以生产“双金属”表面，这可以用于防止锈和腐蚀。
除了这种金属表面的悬浮形式，镀金法还可以将金属粉末浸染到被镀的表面上，生成一层有色金属涂层。在这种情况下，被镀层遗漏了未完全消解的金属，从而表现出不同的色彩和纹理。
Electroplating (also known as galvanizing) is a process of chemically attaching a thin layer of one metal to the surface of another metal using the principles of electrolysis. Specifically, when a direct current passes through a circuit comprising a metal anode and another metal cathode, the dissolved metal of the cathode is moved to the surface of the anode, forming a thin layer of transition.
The purpose of electroplating is to give a metal surface a protective coating and improve its aesthetic appearance. Some surfaces such as iron or copper must be electroplated in order to have good decorative and durable qualities. This is usually a very inexpensive and useful approach.
Electroplating can also be used to cover other metals over the existing metal surface. A common example of electroplating is lead sulfate plating, which can coat one layer of copper and one layer of bismuth over an iron surface to produce a dual metal surface that can be used to prevent rust and corrosion.
In addition to this suspended form of metal surface, electroplating can also involve the immersion of metal powders into the plated surface to create a coloured layer of metal coating. In this case, the plated layer is left with partially undissolved metal, thus displaying different colours and textures.
