Steel rail production process
Steel rail is a kind of important rail parts in rail transport system. It provide a necessary foundation for transportation rail and play important role in railway transport. Steel rail production process is relatively complicated.
Firstly,Steel raw material is the necessary material of steel rail. According to the regulations in GB/T1377-99 (tractic steel casting).The chemical composition requirements of steel raw material should meet the provisions of standard, which contains c, s, p and other elements.
Secondary, steel rails are used in the rolling mill. The ingot is heated firstly and then is pushed into the rolled rail template with the help of manipulator. In the rolling process, the surface of the rolled rail will appear red after the shear force is too big due to the friction and the hardness of the surface of the template.
Moreover, steel rails must go through the normalization process. In the normalization furnace,it is heated up to 800℃ and cooled in the air naturally. The normalization process is used to refine grains and improve its mechanical properties. After the normalization is completed, it is sent to the quenching furnace, heated up to 850℃, and cooled in the oil or water quenching medium.
Finally, steel rails need to be heat-treated in the electrical furnace. The steel is heated to 950~1070℃, and kept tempering ,cooling in the air or the oil. Heat treatment can improve the overall mechanical properties and plasticity of rails. After quenching and tempering treatment, inspect the mechanical properties of steel rails and then check the surface of railway.If there are cracks, bubbles and other defects, it can not be used as railway parts.
Steel rail production process is one of most important and complete process of steel products production. It is necessary to strictly implement the process of steel production, which is the basis for ensuring the excellent performance of the steel rail with ensuring safety and reliability.
