Abstract

Nickel-steel composite board, also known as “nickel-clad steel”, is a steel plate with one or more layers of nickel-clad steel plate. It has the characteristics of good corrosion resistance and heat resistance, good fatigue resistance and self-lubricating properties, so the self-lubricating properties of nickel-steel composite board are especially strong. This paper introduces a composite board that is made of nickel and steel in accordance with the GB/T108-1997 standard. It introduces the parameters of Nickel-steel composite board, the requirements of the production process, and the uses of this material.

1 Introduction

Nickel-steel composite board, also known as “nickel-clad steel”, is a steel plate with one or more layers of nickel-clad steel plate. It has the characteristics of good corrosion resistance and heat resistance, good fatigue resistance and self-lubricating properties. Nickel-steel composite board is divided into two types according to different cladding methods: one type is electroplating cladding method (or known as electro-nickel plating composite board), which is nickel electrolytic plating on the surface of steel plate; The second is hot rolled cladding (or known as hot rolling composite board, also known as stainless composite plate). It is to preheat, interleave and hot pressure composite various grades of steel. The hot rolled composite board is based on pressure welding theory. The process is simple and the efficiency is high. The composite board has strong bearing capacity and good wear resistance.

2 Performance and Requirements of Nickel-Steel Composite Board

2.1 Performance requirements

The performance requirements of nickel-steel composite board are as follows. (1) The mechanical properties of nickel-clad steel composite board should meet the requirements of GB/T108-1997. The tensile strength of the composite board should be not less than 430MPa, and the yield strength should not be less than 370MPa. (2) The electroplating process should meet the requirements of GB/T108-1997 . The thickness of the coating layer should be not less than 20 μm. The corrosion resistance of the composite board should be not less than 5.0mg/cm2/h (neutral salt spray test). (3) The Ni-clad steel composite plate should meet the requirements of GB/T108-1997. The total area is not less than 50% of the total area. Among them, the high current density area (that is, the area near welding or hot working part) should not be less than 40% of the total area.

2.2 Manufacturing Process Requirements

The processes of Nickel-steel composite board production include shearing and bending, welding, thermal processing, etc., and the requirements of each process shall meet the requirements of GB/T108-1997.

(1) Shearing and bending process: The length and width of the material should meet the requirements of GB/T108-1997, and the cutting surface should be free of burrs.

(2) Welding process: welding should be conducted in accordance with the welding procedure specified in GB/T108-1997. The welding shall be free of cracks, pores and other defects. The interelectrode gap should meet the requirements.

(3) Thermal processing: the tin-plated steel strip should be heated to a temperature of 850-950°C before hot-pressing; and the bimetallic strip should be heated to 900-1050°C. After heating and pressing, the surface should be clean and free of oil stains, oxide scales and other impurities.

3 Application

Nickel-Steel Composite Board produced in accordance with GB/T108-1997 is widely used in electronics, automotive, instrumentation, refrigeration and other fields due to its excellent wear resistance, good heat resistance and heat conduction, good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.

4 Conclusion

Nickel-steel composite board is a composite material with excellent properties. In accordance with the standards of GB/T108-1997, the parameters of the composite board and the requirements of the production process are mentioned in this paper. Nickel-steel composite board is widely used in a variety of industrial fields due to its excellent wear resistance, good heat resistance and heat conduction, good electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.
